I’ve been in the plumbing business most of my life. These many years have brought joy and our fair share of challenge. We built a life and a plumbing business. I’m very proud of what has been accomplished. I’d like to share the history of Keep Smiling Plumbing and welcome you into what I know will be a bright future for this business. I started plumbing in 1971 while living in Pennsylvania. After 5 years in the industry, I earned my master plumbers license and knew I wanted to do more. After much consideration, I decided to start my own business. On April 1 st of 1977, I took the risk and opened the doors to our first plumbing business. In the following few years, our little business grew well but our family faced many challenges. Unfortunately, during the same period, I lost both of my parents. After their passing, my very large family decided to relocate to the Atlanta area. My wife’s relatives were from Atlanta and suggested Gwinnett County would be a good place to start a plumbing business. It wasn’t long before we packed up our lives, closed our first plumbing business and moved to Georgia.
Keep Smiling Plumbing was born in July of 1985. I chose the name to honor my dad who was a chiropractor and ran a health center called Keep Smiling Health Center. He was a man ahead of his time. He truly believed that people did not smile enough in life. He always said, “You have to keep smiling through tough times”. He was a good man and mentor.
The early days of our little business were tough. In Pennsylvania, everyone knew us- it was a small town. In our new community, no one knew us. We had to prove ourselves through hard work, prompt service, knowledge, and value for our customer’s money. We were featured in a local newspaper running stories on small mom-and-pop businesses. The article did great things for us. Suddenly our hard work started to pay off. Over the coming years, our business grew, and we established a good name for ourselves. In the year 2000, our son and daughter joined Keep Smiling Plumbing. They worked well in the family business and eventually acquired their master plumber license. During these years, we really became a family business. However, as time went on, our children decided to pursue careers in other areas.
Although disappointed, I was and am very proud of my children and supported their decision. After 41 years of self-employment, 47 years of plumbing and tired bones, I decided to sell my business and retire. It was a very hard decision to make. I loved what I was doing but someone younger with new ideas and fresh drive was needed. It was time for another chapter in my life and in the life of Keep Smiling Plumbing. As luck would have it, I was put in touch with two fine young men, Mr. Corey Arnold and Mr. Mark Hayes. Both are established business owners themselves. They are strong, family men with Christian values who grew up in the same communities we’ve serviced all these years. These gentlemen were eager and capable in carrying forward the Keep Smiling Plumbing tradition. Their vision and ideas were on par with mine and, given their business successes, I truly believed they know what they were doing. May God bless these fine young men in their endeavors to achieve long term success in taking over the reins. I am so proud of what they have accomplished in such a short time.
So, with pride in a job well done, a heavy heart for moving on, and a hope in the next generation, I wish both Mark and Corey all the best. They will do a great job for many more years to come. Good luck and God Bless fellas!
– Carl Keiser
Mark and Corey… The next generation
It is a great honor for Mark and me to continue the traditions Carl Keiser established in Keep Smiling Plumbing. His dedication to quality service, provided by a friendly and knowledgeable team, at a fairprice are exactly what we will continue to build upon. They are the same foundational principles that we have used to establish and grow our own individual businesses over the past 20 plus years.
Mark Hayes, a married father of two daughters, lives in the small town of Monroe, GA. While still working to complete his education at the University of Georgia, in 2003 Mark founded A Polished Finish. Focusing on high end granite and stone counter tops, Mark has led APF, Inc to become the premier granite finisher in Gwinnett and Walton county. He has also worked successfully in the construction industry and has been a driving force in the revitalization of Historic Monroe. Mark and his talented wife Brittney have restored many of the historic homes in the area. I’m proud to call Mark my partner. His humble demeanor and easy smile make him likeable by everyone he meets. I respect Mark’s experience in business and am confident in our future together at Keep Smiling Plumbing. I am also a married father of two young daughters. My family and I live in Monroe, GA and regularly attend the same church as Mark and his family. I’m a graduate of the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, class of 2001. After graduation, I began working full time in the family business, Peachtree Pest Control. Over the next decade, I would work through every role in the business, and in 2011, was fortunate enough to purchase the business from my father, Steve Arnold. We successfully transitioned to the second generation! Since that time, I have founded two more successful businesses; Georgia Insulation, LLC and Georgia Boy Properties, LLC. Having been in the customer service industries many years, Mark and I understand the needs and expectations of customers, how to attract and retain top talent in each field, and serve our customers well. Our collective dedication to excellence in service match perfectly to those established by Carl and Keep Smiling Plumbing. We are excited to have the opportunity to shepherd such a wonderful business into the future! We hope you’ll choose Keep Smiling Plumbing as your service provider.
We look forward to earning your business.
